We zijn fier onze website te kunnen
voorstellen.
Iemand noemde ons de moeder van alle festivals. Natuurlijk overdreef hij.
Toen we in 1965 begonnen waren er
enkele jazzfestivals in Europa. Onze eigenste Comblain la Tour was de thuisbasis van een
wijd en zijd bekend festival. In 1966 werd dit festival voor de laatste maal
georganiseerd.
In 1967 begonnen wij met een toen
zogeheten beat-evenement. Later noemde we deze muziek pop en later nog rock. In 1967
bestond Woodstock nog niet. Noch de festivals van het eiland Wight of van het
Kralingen-bos.
Naar Bilzen kwamen de verschillende
generaties om er jazz, rock, rock and roll, folk, soul, funk, punk en blues te horen.
Na 17 festivals hielden we ermee
op. We konden het niveau niet meer garanderen.
We mogen toch zeggen dat elk jazz, rock, folk of blues festival ons festival als
voorganger heeft gehad.

We’re proud to present our
jazz and rock festival.
Someone called us the mother of all festivals. He was of course exaggerating.
When we started programming jazz in
1965 there were a few jazz festivals in Europe. Our own Belgian Comblain-la-Tour festival
was even famous all over Europe. This festival lasted till 1966.
In 1967 we started to program the
so-called beat-music, transformed to pop or rock in later years.
So our festival preceded the mammoth festivals in Woodstock, Isle of Wight or Kralingen.
Our festival gathered several
generations of youngsters to look and listen to jazz and rock but also rock and roll,
soul, folk, reggae, blues and punk.
After 17 annual festivals, in 1981,
the festival was no longer able to maintain its standards and stopped.
You can say that every to day’s jazz, rock, bues, folk — or other festival has
their roots in jazz bilzen.

Quelqu’un nous a appelé la mère de tout les festivals. Il exagérait sans aucun
doute!
En 1965 nous avons organisé notre
premier festival de jazz. Le festival à nous tous, Comblain la Tour, nous précédait
avec une allure européenne, mais elle malheureusement connaisait sa fin en 1966.
En 1967 déjà nous avons organisé
le premier évènement qu’on appelait alors « beat », plus tard mieux connu
sous le nom pop ou rock.
Il est vrai que Woodstock, l’île de Wight et Kralingen ont herbergé leur festival
après nous.
A Bilzen plusieurs générations
ont applaudi, pendant les années soixante et septante, les coryfées du jazz, du rock
mais aussi du soul, du rock&roll, du folk, du punk, du reggae et du blues.
La fête a duré 17 éditions.
